Jenny Quinn, University of Washington — Tacoma

Dr. Quinn’s research focuses on combinatorics, graph theory and combinatorial matrix theory. She likes to count — specifically, finding concrete counting contexts that lead to clever combinatorial proofs of algebraic identities.

Invited Speakers

Marjorie Senechal, Smith College

Marjorie Senechal's fields of interest include history of science and technology, discrete geometry (polyhedra and tiling theory) and mathematical crystallography (including quasicrystals). At Smith, Senechal taught history of science as well as mathematics. She founded the Kahn Institute in 1998 and served as its director the first eight years.

Joe Silverman, Brown University

Dr. Silverman is a Professor of Mathematics at Brown University and works primarily in the fields of number theory, arithmetic dynamics, and cryptography. He is the author of numerous textbooks at both the undergraduate and graduate level, with his two books on elliptic curves winning the AMS Steele Prize for Mathematical Exposition in 1998. He received an MAA Lester Ford Award in 1994 and the NES MAA Award for Distinguished Teaching in 2011.
